With Covid-19 ending many teams' and leagues' seasons, the Minnesota Blizzard have formed the Minnesota Scout League for players to try to get noticed with some seasons being cut short. Tuesdays are workout days and Wednesdays the group is split into two for a game day.
One of my jobs for the league is to track velocities every week to see where guys are at and to give scouts more information on the players themselves. With that, I would like to show you guys the first leaderboards of the summer for both throwing velocity in the field and exit velocity! Infielders took part in a traditional velocity testing by fielding grounders at short and then firing them to third, first basemen took grounders and threw them to third, and outfielders fielded a ball and threw it to the third base cut-off. Hitters were tracked by their exit velocity on soft-toss. Here are the rankings by velocity for the first testing:
This was just the first week of testing, so I will have more of these updates to come in the future to see how the players progress!
